Welcome: ETC New Faculty: Dr. Catharyn Shelton

Dr. Catharyn Shelton is joining the department of Educational Specialties as an assistant professor in the educational technology area. She brings a background as a K-12 teacher (high school Spanish, special education, bilingual elementary), and will be teaching undergraduate and graduate educational technology courses.

In her teaching and research, Dr. Shelton explores how technology can help or hinder teacher learning, networking, and agency. Recently she has investigated how teachers learn and lead in online spaces, focusing on how teachers enact (or fail to enact) social justice and anti-bias, anti-racist approaches.

Catharyn is a fourth-generation Arizona teacher, advocates for equitable public schools, and a mom to two little firecrackers.
